The Gen. John J. Pershing Boyhood Home State Historic Site is a time capsule in Gothic trim. This nine-room home, where Pershing lived from age 6 to 22, is filled with original furnishings, family artifacts, and stories that stretch from Missouri fields to the trenches of France.
Just steps away, the restored Prairie Mound School connects another chapter. Before West Point, before war, Pershing taught here. Today, it’s a museum that brings his classroom back to life, with immersive exhibits and authentic detail.
